The oldest cinema in the capital and one of the first cinemas in the world received its first viewers in 1909 and became the country’s main cinema. In 1909, cinema owners included chronicles from the life of high society, short scenes and feature films in the cinema show. Following this tradition, scientific specialists reconstructed the 1909 Art Electrotheatre’s film screening, collecting chronicles and film views from the collections of the Russian State Film and Film Festival and the State Film Fund.

The program was prepared in partnership with the Russian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents. The screening will take place as part of the parallel program of the 1st Moscow International Festival of Archival Films.
